Would you like to join the English-Speaking Union?
The Indianapolis Branch holds monthly meetings throughout the program year (September to June) featuring a variety of programs to broaden the horizons of the members, and which also serve as pleasant occasions to socialize with one another.
Our book club meets three or four times a year to discuss books chosen to reflect the mission and purpose of the E-SU which is to promote scholarship and the advancement of knowledge through the effective use of English.
In addition, this Branch participates in the following national E-SU initiatives:
- National Shakespeare Competition: a curriculum-based program for introducing and promoting the study of Shakespeare for high school students.
- British Universities Summer School: scholarships that allow American high school teachers to study at Oxford, the Globe Centre, and other universities in Great Britain.
- Walter Hines Page Scholarships: promotes the exchange of ideas by bringing British educators and administrators for short-term visits to schools in the U.S.
